Abstract

We propose, as many linguists, that the function of types of discourse is argumentation. All discourses want to be coherent, so, We can’t speak about discourse without speaking about coherence, for this raeson, We study in this article coherence in argumentative discourse, we distinguish between two levels of cohérence: cohesion and coherence.

In this work, we revisit the relevance theory developped by linguists, Dan Sperber and Deiredre Wilson, this theory allows to study cohérence with a pragmatic cognitive view. We focus in our study on leterary corpus (two texts by Mahmod Al-Massadi): «haddatha Abou Houraira kal; Abou houraiara narrated: He said» and «Alssad»,  we believe that literature is a reformulation of reality and reconstarction of it in thier contexts, intentions and processes of speech and especially in coherence.
