Translating Pragmatic Technical Terms Between Wide Use and Accuracy

Abstract

In this paper, we explore the methods of translating linguistic technical terms  into Arabic and examine the approaches adopted by some Arab linguists in translating Pragmatic terminology _ particularly regarding  their stance on using equivalent terms from the Arabic linguistic tradition versus newly coined terms, as well as the debate between focusing  on intentional versus extensional meaning in translation.  Additionally, we present a brief overview of our own methodology in translating technical terms,  including examples of terms we have coined and common translation errors in the field.
