A Language with Multiple Heads and the Fate of Linguistic Diglossia in Morocco
Keywords:

In this study, we address the necessity of framing the concept of diglossia and the risks of neglecting to define it in a way that ensures its neutrality, acceptance of diversity, and ability to interact intelligently with linguistic realities while maintaining the highest level of intellectual vigilance to foster critical thinking. We begin by examining the use of the concept of diglossia in colonial thought, as represented in the research of William Marçais and his contemporary French Orientalists. Researchers may observe paradoxes that were either misused or deliberately employed to support the colonialist agenda.
