Linguistic References of Critical Discourse Analysis Morocco
Abstract
This article focuses on the linguistic references of critical discourse analysis, given that the pioneers of this critical approach to discourse analysis relied on tools provided by the humanities and socialsciences, particularly linguistics. Thisresearch seeksto answer the following question: What isthe nature of the relationship between critical discourse analysis and linguistics? It aims to provide a clear understanding of the nature of this relationship; particularly how linguistic theories can be used in critical discourse analysis. In this article, we conclude that the relationship between critical discourse analysis and linguistics is one of overlap and derivation. Critical discourse analysis, as an interdisciplinary approach, brings together a set of cognitive theories in its approach to texts and discourses, and then draws on linguistics for concepts that aid in the analysis of discourses, attempting to produce knowledge about the role of language in the practice of power, the dissemination ofideologies, and social and cultural change.
